Creative Work
I write both poetry and creative nonfiction. Language helps me make sense of the world around me and gives me a way to capture—and remember—what might otherwise be lost. Recently, I’ve been working on flash creative nonfiction pieces inspired by my beloved canine companion, Ani, who passed away in 2025. You might say she’s become my muse. By writing about her, I’m breathing life into the beauty and joy she awakened in me, or rather, helped me connect to again. What better teacher could this humble human have asked for than a dog—a creature who delights in vulgarities like scent-rolling, turning the mud and stink of dead things into one of life’s greatest pleasures?
